A CELEBRATION OF PEOPLE AND PLANET!

Please join us this April as we celebrate our planet, our neighbors, our community.  There will be entertainment, vendors, plants for sale, city groups offering an abundance of information, food trucks, and so much more. The event is free, but please bring shopping and lunch money, in case you get hungry or see something you would like to purchase from a vendor. Some of the neighborhoods and community groups sell plants as fundraisers. Above all, it’s just a good day to get out and enjoy nature.

Women in the Environment is hosting a vendor booth at this event. Come visit the booth or volunteer to staff the booth for a portion of the event. Oak Cliff Earth Day is a family friendly event, and a great way to learn about the non-profits and specialty vendors in the local area. Bring money because you’ll want to shop and enjoy lunch from one of the food trucks!

Sign up here to volunteer at the WE Booth! If the time slots are filled, or if you want a different or shorter time slot, please email Kelly at murphykel000 at gmail dot com.

Webinar: Examining Commercial Furniture Reuse in North Central Texas Organizations

Every year, an estimated 9.7 million tons of furniture find their way into U.S. landfills, and the Dallas-Fort Worth region contributes significantly to this growing challenge. Whether due to relocation, downsizing, consolidation, or other moves, adds and changes, businesses across North Central Texas often discard or liquidate large volumes of valuable office furniture and equipment, sending these items straight to landfills or prematurely recycling these valuable commodities instead of recirculating them back into our communities.

Sponsored by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and built by Rheaply, the North Central Texas Reuse Marketplace, which launched late in 2024— is a platform specifically designed to keep furniture, fixtures, and other high-value assets in circulation. Texas-based organizations across the 16-county region can now easily list, locate, and exchange furniture to reduce waste, save money, and drive more sustainable operations.

Join NCTCOG and Rheaply us for a virtual webinar on April 17

You’ll learn:

  • What the NCT Reuse Marketplace is and why it was created
  • Real-life examples of using the NCT Reuse Marketplace prior to liquidation
  • Ways to sell or donate goods instead of sending them to landfills
  • Strategies for saving time, money, and resources through reuse

Can’t attend live? Register anyway—we’ll send you a recording. Leave this webinar equipped with the knowledge (and shareable materials) to help your constituents adopt a more circular approach to office furniture and beyond.

This project was funded in cooperation with the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. We look forward to your participation!
